Bruiser p.109-120

Tennyson is starting to get mad. Now that he has figured out Brewster's secret, he realized that Tennyson is the reason he is doing so well in lacrosse. It is not just because he is having a really good season, its because every time he is tired, Brewster feels it for him. Every time his gets injured, Brewster hurts for him. Tennyson tells him to stay as far away from his lacrosse games as possible. It he is going to win, he doesn't want to feel like his is cheating. He doesn't know what to do.

Bruiser p. 186-195

Bruiser starts to think it was the right thing to have Tennyson and Bronte to care about. Tennyson actually stood up for Bruiser. No one has ever done that for him before. Sure, Bruiser has to endure all of his work outs and his many lacrosse injuries, but he actually has a friend. Bronte, is just a plus. She cares about him even though he has shared his worst secret with him. He can't even believe that she has withstood him this long. Maybe she really does love him

Bruiser p.86-92

Bronte isn't scared of Brewster even though he is almost like an alien. She, at first, wonders why he hasn't told anyone. He then, tells her his story. His mother left because she had cancer and she knew that if she stayed, she would give it to Brewster. She left Cody and Brew at their uncles house so they wouldn't be in an orphanage. His mother called him everyday until she passed away. He loved her dearly. Also, he can't tell anyone the truth about his power because he would just get a whole bunch of needles stuck into him and most likely get killed in the process. Bronte understands him more then anyone else will and Brew is happy that she didn't run away, that she stayed with him.

Bronte decides to approach Brewster at school. She yells at him then smacks him across the face when all of a sudden, he starts bleeding. At first Bronte thinks it is from his head, but after she realizes it is from the same spot where she cut herself, by accident, with a knife herself the day before. She is at first, confused, but afterward she looks at her own hand. It doesn't even have a scratch. She takes Brewster to the nurses office and makes up some lame excuse. She apologizes for being so terrible but after he explains that if he cares about someone, any scratch that was ever someone else's, appears on his body. Bronte doesn't know what to say, but instead, she tells him she loves him and he doesn't have to respond because it shows on his hand.

Bruiser p. 68-73

Bronte is determined to have Brewster like her enough so that he will tell her the truth. However, when Brewster finally is about to come over, Tennyson warns her that something is wrong with mom and dad. Bronte ignores his constant pestering and Brewster comes over. Then, her mom and dad get into a strange fight. It turns out, their mother has been cheating on their father. Brewster, suddenly, runs out the door, breaks up with Bronte and says,"He cant care about them." Bronte's emotions start to run wild. She doesn't know what to do, but she and Tennyson just sit in the bathroom and talk. Not about the terrible things happening, but about their favorite things. It is a curious way to cope, but they are the only ones who will always be there for each other.

Bruiser p. 56-67

Bronte doesn't know what to do. She knows Brewster is lying to her, but she doesn't want to loose him either. We do start to wonder if Brewster might have a super power. Tennyson, who earlier in the day had bloody fists, had hands as good as new in a couple of hours. Curiously enough, when he talked to Brewster later that day, he had the same exact cuts on his fist. It was a very curious thing. Tennyson tells Bronte to never go to Brewster's house, and Bronte doesn't argue at all. She doesn't like his uncle

Bruiser chp.42-55

Bronte couldn't stop thinking about what Tennyson said. So, Bronte had a marvelous idea to ask Brewster to go swimming. He tried to make excuses at first, but eventually was talked into it. Cody was trying to do handstands for a long time while Brewster tried to stay out of the pool. When he finally went in, he asked to keep his shirt on. The problem was, he couldn't swim very well. So, he said it wasn't a good idea and took Cody was about to leave. However, Bronte saw Brewsters back and was utterly and thoroughly shocked. She made him stay and demanded him to tell her the truth. He said he just bruised easily but she knew it was a lie. She was so worried about him from that moment on, she couldn't even think right.

After the incident with Brewster's uncle, Tennyson is curious if his uncle beats him. Brewster assures him that his uncle does not beat him because he is scared of him. Tennyson doesn't believe him at first, but then his brother also assures him that there his uncle doesn't beat Brewster. After Brewster invites Tennyson inside, he realizes that the house is a normal house, but it almost looks like bruise. He also decides to apologize for coming on so strong about his sister and wants to start fresh. Brewster agrees then Tennyson leaves without a second thought because the house creeps him out. When he goes home, he tells Bronte to ask about his uncle. Bronte is confused, but she thinks about it.

Brusier p.32-40

Tennyson, after seeing Brewster's back, now sees the real meaning of his nickname, The Bruiser. Brewster says that he just bruises easily then walks out. Without a thought, Tennyson starts following him. He follows him all the way back to Brewster's house. When he got there, we find out that their old bull died. As soon as his ratty younger brother saw it, he burst into tears. However, a strange thing happened. Almost as soon as his brother started crying, he stopped, and Brewster started sobbing. Tennyson didn't know what was happening, but when his uncle came out and threatened to beat them, he got in the way. He didn't know why he cared, but he did, and he had to do something about it.

Tennyson decides that he is going to crash Bronte's date with Brewster. They don't even realize he is there until Tennyson comes up to them. He takes Brewster in the corner and says if he touches Bronte, he is in for it. After, Bronte freaks out and says she will date Brewster no matter what he says. Tennyson says that is not okay with him, but instead he tries to spy on him. He doesn't even realize what is going to happen. He made sure he stayed a little bit after gym class so he could tell Brewster off. Instead, he saw the many scars, like a battlefield up and down Brewster's back

Bruiser P. 1-25

This story starts with a boy named Tennyson. He is a lacrosse jock, an overprotective brother, and a bully. However, when his sister Bronte starts dating the boy who got voted most likely to go to prison, Tennyson freaks. He calls Bruiser, the boy who she is dating, another one of her charity cases. However, when we get to Bronte's section of the story, we find that Bruiser was just that, at first. She did know, however, that this boy was different. She actually met him at the library when he was looking for a poetry. After that, they clicked, because Bronte was named after a famous author herself. He was different, and she was happy with that.
